Candle Care

CANDLE CARE - OUR TOP 6 TIPS

1. THE FIRST BURN IS IMPORTANT
When lighting for the first time, burn the candle until wax melts across the entire surface up to the sides of vessel as this will prevent tunnelling, and create an even burn for the duration of the candle's 'life'. This may take up to 2-4 hours, but we promise it will make your candle last longer.

Burn candles for a maximum of fours hours at a time, burning for over can cause the wick to move, or slant.

2. TRIM YOUR WICK
We recommend trimming your wick before every lighting. The wick only needs to be approximately 6mm in length, keeping it this length will avoid mushrooming which can result in unnecessary soot. This also controls the size of the flame allowing you to get the most time out of your candle

3. EXTINGUISHING A CANDLE
Extinguish your candle with a snuffer, or dip the wick into the melted wax and then straighten wick to prevent smoking and also prevent hot wax from splattering. Do not blow out.

4. KEEP AWAY FROM WINDY SPACES
Draughts decrease burn time, cause uneven burning, smoking and diminished scent throw.  Keeping your lit candles away from draughty spots in the home will prevent uneven burning.  Light your candle in a well-ventilated room, away from drafts or fans, which can cause sooting (black marks on the vessel), or rapid, uneven burning.

5. DON’T BURN ALL THE WAY DOWN
It is very important candles are not burnt when there is 10mm of wax or less remaining in the glass. We strongly advise against this as the flame needs a solid base of wax to avoid overheating the glass. We offer a refill service or you can reuse the glass around the home.

6. STORING YOUR CANDLES
Always store your candles in a cool, dark and dry place. We store our candles under a glass cloche, which protects from dust and also looks great.  It might be obvious, but keep candles stored away from areas that can get quite hot in the home.  Avoid placing your candles where they will be directly exposed to sunlight or harsh indoor lighting, such as a spotlights
